New Listings in the National Register
The Keeper of the National Register, National Park Service, recently
approved the listing of the following properties in the National
Register of Historic Places.
JACKSON COUNTY
Lake Agnes Cabin
State Forest State Park, Gould vicinity
National Register and State Register listed on September 26, 2007
The 1925 cabin is a good local example of Rustic style architecture,
a form characterized by its natural setting and its use of native
materials, often log and stone. Designed to blend in with the natural
environment, these buildings usually served as vacation homes, hunting
lodges, dude ranches, or tourist-related facilities in national and state
parks. The Lake Agnes Cabin reflects the design characteristics with its
log walls, rubble foundation, simple form, and gently pitched roof.

LARIMER COUNTY
Flattop Mountain Trail
Rocky Mountain National Park, Estes Park vicinity
National Register and State Register listed on September 27, 2007
Associated with the early resort industry and tourism in the Estes
Park region, the trail grew from the twentieth-century movement to develop
national parks for public enjoyment. Completely relocated in 1925, a
Depression-era New Deal federal relief agency, the Civilian Conservation
Corps, also improved the trail during the summer and fall work season of
1940. The trail design reflects National Park Service Naturalistic Design
philosophies and practices of the 1920s through the 1940s. The property is
associated with the Rocky
Mountain National Park and the Historic
Park Landscapes in National and State Parks Multiple Property
Submissions. (Photograph 2003)
