HIGHWAY BRIDGES IN COLORADO
MULTIPLE PROPERTY SUBMISSION
The bridges listed below represent the best examples of their
types remaining in place on state, county, and municipal roads
in Colorado. Many of the bridges were originally recognized in
conjunction with the 1985 Vehicular Bridges in Colorado Thematic
Resource nomination prepared after the completion of a statewide
bridge survey in 1984. An intensive statewide survey conducted
in the late 1990s resulted in the preparation of a more completed
historic context, The Historical and Technological Evolution of
Colorado's Bridges 1880-1958, which addresses in detail the wide
variety of designs, construction technologies and operational histories
of Colorado's highway bridges. (Accepted by National Register in
