Survey & Inventory- Colorado Cultural Resource GIS Program

1999-2001 Pilot Projects

Pilot Project Structure To assess the feasibility and overall worth of GIS within cultural resource management contexts, the SHPO GIS program is focusing on work conducted by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the Bureau of Reclamation (B. Rec.). GIS thematic data layers to be constructed for the BLM are based on specific resource or management areas. Data to be captured for these areas will consist of cultural resource survey areas and when possible sites. Figure 1 shows these resource areas, the current extent of the GIS thematic data and areas planned for data capture.

Figure 1.

Figure 1: BLM resource management areas. Yellow indicates the current extent of thematic data layers. Orange denotes areas planned for data capture and red indicates areas in progress.
